You can at least be clever in your insults and attack straight on instead of imitating a baby. A baby would no doubt come up with higher level insults than that. Ms. Felcher, if you would like, I know some really top notch Shakespeare scholars, and I have no qualms seeing if they are interested in judging your competition, though I know you have some people already lined up. Plus, I can't wait to see what comes from this exciting endeavor!

Miss you!Erinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10458995230082086988noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-998485430463989783.post-17455338524096859652010-02-08T12:22:27.425-08:002010-02-08T12:22:27.425-08:00Well, I guess what we have here is a failure to co...Well, I guess what we have here is a failure to communicate. Is...What do the others have to self-reflect about? Is it because of how mean we're being to you after having been back-stabbed? Maybe, if it's about what you said to your students in your classes about the English department and this contest, you're guilty. Writing an anonymous blog is one thing, using our private emails is another, but ranting about it to your students, using TONE there, only creates a MOOD in the department that will reflect all over you.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-998485430463989783.post-85186257504281497852010-02-07T23:31:39.570-08:002010-02-07T23:31:39.570-08:00WOW, at least people are finally reading this damn...WOW, at least people are finally reading this damned thing!

It's funny how we hear tone. We teach TONE every single day, yet we all seem to be misunderstood.

How much of the readings of tone evidenced both in the blog and the responses are rooted in what was actually said, and how much is pre-determined by how we want to hear what is said in order to validate our personal feelings and "presumptions of negative intent"? This is the real (and seemingly endless) discussion.

I know the readers think the writer of the blog guilty, but clearly a little self-reflection is due all around.Ms. F.https://www.blogger.com/profile/13155226252768210376noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-998485430463989783.post-53807042507539511642010-02-07T20:39:07.816-08:002010-02-07T20:39:07.816-08:00Iago? Naive and wholl...That IS indeed a naive assessment. Naive and wholly ignorant. The two teachers whose private emails were quoted in this public space (without their permission by the way) are two of the finest teachers in L.A., teachers who work their asses off everyday in the classroom, who spend hours and hours at night and on weekends grading essays, preparing their students for acceptance to--and success at--top colleges, challenging their students to do high-level work always, and they do so in a District that treats them like shit, pays them shit, and generally fucks their shit up in ways people outside the profession can't begin to understand. Ms. F.'s Shakespeare contest is a fine and noble idea, of course. No argument there. But a teacher declining to participate is in NO WAY a sign of "not seeming to care about educational opportunities," as you presumptuously suggest. It is so wrong as to be laughable, especially if you knew whom you were accusing. Suffice to say, you are 100% incorrect, sir.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01689558622823485191noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-998485430463989783.post-70097033185015431132010-02-07T12:55:43.496-08:002010-02-07T12:55:43.496-08:00This comment has been removed by the author.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01689558622823485191noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-998485430463989783.post-75933508026268138962010-02-06T13:31:48.522-08:002010-02-06T13:31:48.522-08:00Perhaps this is a naive assesment on my part; but...Perhaps this is a naive assesment on my part; but that's possibly best exapmle I've seen of some teachers not seeming to care about educational oppurtunities (not to mention "college-level" introductory work that the district always insists it's so wet for). It's really shocking. I hope YOUR contest works out! I know I was much more prepared for college-level work coming out of your Shakespeare class than I had felt after taking other English classes
-HohmannAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02089585715758771001noreply@blogger.com
